- Building owners must hire a qualified professional or a “competent person” to inspect parapets facing a public sidewalk, roadway, or space accessible to the public.
- The inspection must identify safe or unsafe conditions, and actions taken to remedy any unsafe condition, including photos and any repairs made.
- If an unsafe condition is identified, the owner will be obligated to immediately install protection (sidewalk shed, netting, scaffolding, etc.) for the public until the condition is remedied.
- The inspector must also immediately notify
DOB of any unsafe condition.
