Course Description: This course is designed for those individuals who will be erecting or dismantling a supported scaffold. It is a required course in New York City (NYC) for any worker who will build, maintain or remove a supported scaffold that is taller than 40’.

• Buttresses, cantilevers and bridges.
• Hazards associated with scaffolds.
• Fall Protection.
• Tubular welded frame scaffolds.
• OSHA standards.
• Nomenclature, components and parts inspection.
• Erection/dismantling planning and procedures.
• Guys, ties and braces.
• Accident prevention.
• Access, planks and platforms.
• Rolling scaffold assembly.
• Putlogs hands-on demonstration and practice.
• Tubular and clamp scaffolds.
Pre-requisites: Students should be familiar with supported scaffolds. However, there are no pre-requisites for the course.
Objetivos: Al finalizar este curso, los alumnos serán capaces de:
• Identify the types, nomenclature and definitions of a supported scaffold.
• Understand the different types of fall protection needed when working on a scaffold.
• Understand the permit requirements needed in order to comply with the Building Code.
• Discuss and identify common supported scaffold hazards.
• Distinguish between the Federal and NYC scaffold regulations.
• Choose safe work practices at their construction sites based on prudent decision-making.
• Develop a basic knowledge of how to safely install and remove supported scaffold equipment.
• Supervise other workers in the use of supported scaffolds.
