Course Description: FDNY requires a Certificate of Fitness (COF) holder be present to perform fire watch during hot work operations at: 1) construction sites, 2) rooftop operations where torch-applied roof systems are in operation, and 3) In any building or structure, when the torch operation is conducted by a person holding a citywide permit for torch operations.
This Certificate of Fitness is valid only for the specific person to whom it is issued and can be used anywhere within New York City
This course prepares students for the F-60 Fireguard for Torch Operations COF exam
Topics include:
- Hot work operation and fire watch.
- Fire safety requirements.
- Fire watch requirements.
- Gas welding and cutting precautions.
- Emergency notification, fire protection systems, and fire extinguishers.
- Fire prevention.
- Fire protection system.
Pre-requisites: There are no pre-requisites for this course.
Objectives: This course prepares students for the F-60 Fireguard for Torch Operations COF exam.
Course Materials: This course consists of several different components which include power point presentations, lecture, real life case studies, class discussion and hands on demonstration. Students must bring picture ID to the class.
