30 Hour Concrete Safety Manager Course

A Concrete Safety Manager (CSM) must be designated on all major buildings in New York City (NYC) where 2000 cubic yards or more of concrete will be placed on an entire project. CSMs must have completed this 30-hour Concrete Safety Manager course within 5 years before applying for the license.

Pre-requisites: There are no prerequisites needed to attend this course.  However, students must have a general knowledge of the NYC Building Code. Individuals who are taking this course with the intent to apply for their NYC Concrete Safety Manager’s license must meet certain requirements.

Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Identify rules and regulations that were promulgated after concrete construction accidents in NYC.
• Demonstrate the reasons for NYC safety rules on concrete projects.
• Illustrate NYC specific hazards for concrete construction and the control methods for those hazards.

Course Materials: This course consists of several different components which include PowerPoint presentations, lectures, case studies, class discussions, and hands-on demonstrations. We provide a student manual and practical exercises.
